The Glass Seed Annual seeks poems which emphasize the music of language through alliteration, anaphora, refrain, repetition, and other formal metrical devices.

The theme for the second issue is war poetry. The Glass Seed Annual would like to see contemporary poetry on war, soldiers, women in combat, non-combatants in combat, and related themes that sing like the poems of Wilfred Owen, John McCrae, Carrie Jerrell's "The Poet Prays to Her Radio for a Country Song", Kenneth Slessor's "Five Bells", Mike Snider's "Stella's Song", Elizabeth Hadaway's "All Short-A Appalachia", John M. Ford's "Against Entropy".

Additionally, the second issue of the Glass Seed Annual will accept pantoums on any subject. Please read the first issue for a sense of the musicality of language I'm looking for.

The Glass Seed Annual is open to submissions. The current reading period will close on 31 August 2012.

To offer poems for the editor's consideration, send up to 3 poems in the body of an email to gseededitor AT gmail DOT com. Poems in attachments will not be considered; query before mailing poems if your piece has a visual component which requires an attachment. Cover letters may be brief but must be included. Do not send previously-published poems.

The Glass Seed Annual pays 20 USD per poem through Paypal. Alternate forms of payment can be coordinated if necessary. The Glass Seed Annual will pay 30 USD for pantoums which fit the theme.
